Friday Reads

It’s Friday and it’s time to talk books! It’s been some  time since I posted a Friday Reads post. That’s because I’ve been deep in my writing cave, writing and polishing my next release. My first Christmas novella, Snow Globe Reunion, will release on September 1. Be sure to stop in because I’ll be doing a cover reveal and sharing about it soon.

In the meantime….let’s get back to reading. I really didn’t need any more books to add to my TBR pile. Nonetheless, I treated myself to a trip to my favorite place in the world – Barnes & Noble. After weeks of hard work, it’s  a treat to sit in the cafe and enjoy a pastry and iced tea. And of course you don’t expect me to go into a bookstore without coming  out with at least one book,do you? Nope. Surprisingly I only came out with two. I was browsing the Buy 2 Get 1 free table. The table was filled with lots of trade paperbacks, one cover more enticing then the next. After much debate, I chose the two books below. My daughter took the free book. I’m going to apologize for the sideways picture, but try as I have I can’t get this picture to right itself. So, here are my two books: The Light Between Oceans by M.L. Stedman and The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton.

Friday reads books

The hardest part after fighting with my picture is which to read first. After I got home I found one thing very interesting. Both of these books are set in Australia and both authors live in Australia. How about that? The author in me is playing the ‘what if’ game. What if it’s a sign my next book should be set in Australia? What if it’s a sign that I should take a trip to Australia? What if it’s a sign that my dream of owning a kangaroo is about to come true? Whatever it means, I know one thing. I’ve chosen two books that sound so equally good I can’t decide.

So I’m coming to you today to ask for your help. Have you read either of these books? If so, tell me which one I should start first. If you’ve read both, did you like them both and which book was most memorable for you? I’m hoping to start reading this weekend. Weekends are my favorite time to read. How about you? Do you read on the weekends? And do you pick a special book for your weekend read?

Happy Friday! Happy Reading!
