Fun Friday!

It’s Friday, my favorite day of the week. Somehow it’s the only day of the week that I get up with a spring in my step and get right into gear. Most Fridays I’m at my desk by 7:30. Some Fridays even earlier. My goal is to get my work done early and start the weekend off right.

I might even eat my breakfast at my desk. And drink my two cups of morning tea there too. Because I know that by lunch time I’m a free bird. Fridays are my lunch out days. Whether it’s my favorite pizza place, a cafe or somewhere completely new, I always eat my lunch out. After lunch I wander around but  usually end up doing what I love most  –  perusing the shelves of my local Barnes & Noble. Yes, I can always count on getting away from my desk on Fridays. But this week I changed things up a bit. On Wednesday I left my desk behind for a couple of hours and went to the beach!

Weekdays are the best time to go to the beach, especially when it’s early in summer and the schools haven’t let out yet. If there were a dozen people on the beach it was a lot. My daughter and I set up a blanket close to the shore so she could just jump in the water. Surprisingly it wasn’t that cold. I had my tote bag overflowing with…you guessed it, books. I’d forgotten how relaxing it is just to sit and soak up the sun while soaking up a good read. I’d forgotten how the sound of the ocean can lull you into such a peaceful state. I’d forgotten just how beautiful it all is. And I’d forgotten about the little miracles of nature that are right there in front of our noses – if only we would just take the time to look.

Here’s a few pictures from my day at the beach, a place I will now make an effort to visit more often. In the last picture you’ll see that I even made a new friend. What do you enjoy most about the beach?

  1. Being right in the middle of Georgia, the beach is several hours away and I would love to get there more often. I love the beach. I love the smell, sounds and gentle breezes. It can be crowded and on those days it’s not so relaxing so the key is to find the time when it’s less crowded. I’m glad you broke away to enjoy it.

    1. Tonya, when I think of Georgia I think of beautiful sunny beaches. Didn’t think that some Georgians might be quite a ride away from them. I love the sounds
too, especially the waves rolling in. The breeze was very welcome on a very hot 90 degree day too. I hope you’ll get a chance to get to the ocean some day soon.
I sure enjoyed my trip. Thanks for stopping by!
