Fun Friday!

Though I normally like to get out from my desk on Fridays, this Friday I’ll be hanging close to home. It’s the 4th of July and we always spend the day at home as a family. But I also have a deadline looming so I’m planning to get a little work done. The work I’m doing is actually a lot of fun. It’s the part of writing a novel that I enjoy the most – creating the setting.

The novel I’m working full steam ahead on now is set in a small village on a bay. Though I have a park, a marina and several stores in mind, the majority of the story will be taking place in and around a lighthouse. Until this story came to me, I had no idea how fascinated I was with lighthouses. They’ve never held any special interest for me before, unlike my mom who actually collects miniature lighthouses. I’ve never desired to live close to the water or own a boat, like my husband and father, both water lovers. But somehow I’ve become enamored of lighthouses. I even found a beautiful miniature of a lighthouse on Long Island during the annual sidewalk sale in the neighboring village. When I brought it home I thought it would be the first of a possible new collection. Until I found that a plant sitting on my kitchen windowsill was actually potted in a ceramic lighthouse. A little foreshadowing of this story that was yet to come? Who knows?

So right now I’m trying to decide what my heroine’s lighthouse looks like. Not finding too many pictures in my pile of magazines, I turned to the internet and found more than enough. It’s hard to choose even with a vision in mind.

Which lighthouse catches your eye?

Let me know in the comments!Happy 4th of July!!!!

    1. Debora, I’ve never been too interested before this, and I’ve been to a few in the past. Now I’ve become a lighthouse fanatic lol. I like the one you visited
in San Diego! Thanks for sharing and Happy 4th of July!

  1. Hi Christina,
I too am a bit partial to lighthouses. In fact, one very similar to the stand-alone lighthouse above graces the cover of my book. So… I’d have to go with that one. 🙂
Enjoy celebrating the Fourth of July with your family!

    1. Mary, I’ll have to check that cover of your book out! Thank you, and I hope you and yours had a wonderful holiday! 😀
