Today is Wednesday, and I’m pleased to have Nicole Zoltack join us with her release, The Test of Time. This unique time travel story of romance will have you turning the pages until the end. A fast and fascinating read, start by reading the blurb below and then we’ll talk to Nicole about her process and what inspired her to write The Test of Time.

Katia jumps at the chance to go to England with her best friend after Rose ditches her deadbeat boyfriend. While walking through the market, she spies a large mansion and recognizes the guy out front as her high school friend Tony. Just as they start to reconnect, Katia passes through times and lands in the arms of Lord Landon, who looks like Tony but certainly doesn’t act like him.

Soon, Katia learns that this 1815 is different from the one in history books. Trapped in a parallel world, Katia struggles to not fall for Landon but his charm proves too much for her. Just when she is about to confess her love for him, Katia travels through time yet again.

The course of love never did run smooth and if Katia can’t figure out and master the test of time, she’ll never see her friends again, or worse, never be reunited with Landon.

CL: What inspired the idea for The Test of Time?

NZ: Ever since I read Outlander years ago, I’ve wanted to write a time travel but it wasn’t until recently that I had the idea for one (actually two!). The Test of Time came about because I thought about not traveling to the past, but to a parallel world.

CL: Tell us a little bit about your writing process. Do you outline before you begin to write or are you a pantster?

NZ: Definitely a pantser! But I have been using a bare skeleton outline to keep me more on track. It definitely helps lessen the need for editing since I’m more focused and less likely to go off on tangents.

CL: What was the most difficult part of writing The Test of Time?

NZ: Leaving the characters behind. I think some of the minor characters might deserve a story or novella of their own…

CL: Tell us a little bit about your journey to becoming a published author.

NZ: I’ve been published for a little while now. At a publisher chat, I spoke with the EIC of Desert Breeze Publishing and mentioned my WIP, a fantasy novel that became Woman of Honor. Since then, I’ve published two trilogies, a Regency, and now a time travel. I couldn’t be happier!

CL: What advice would you offer aspiring writers on the writing business?

NZ: Read in your genre. Read outside your genre. And write. Make an outline if you wish and just go for it.

CL: Any special tips for writers who are juggling writing with raising a family, working a day job or just life in general?

NZ: Time management is key, but definitely make sure you have a little bit of time for yourself. Not writing or reading – something else. It’ll help keep you sane.

Nicole Zoltack loves to write in many genres, especially romance, whether fantasy, paranormal, or regency. When she’s not writing about knights, superheroes, or zombies, she loves to spend time with her loving husband and three energetic young boys. She enjoys riding horses (pretending they’re unicorns, of course!) and going to the PA Renaissance Faire, dressed in garb. She’ll also read anything she can get her hands on. Her current favorite TV show is The Walking Dead. To learn more about Nicole and her writing, visit http://NicoleZoltack.blogspot.com.
